Re: Defining the Subdivisions.

Yes. Those counties which are well developed, we need to do up cool wiki articles on. And then we need to make all the other counties clear that they're fair game. And, to be honest, the way time goes here, if a county is unused for a year, that's over 3 centuries in time, so it changing after that ...

Re: Defining the Subdivisions.

Yes, the wiki should probably be our ultimate way of keeping track of land development. But I think we should keep the county forums. For me, counties have always been the smallest possible unit of culture. By making it a separate county, it's been given permission to be developed in a different way...

Re: The Forum Sharing Stuff

Artz brought it up here so I responded here. I didn't want to get the other thread bogged down in it. I posted a link directly to my post here in my post there, though, so Gerk can find it easily if he wants.

Re: The Forum Sharing Stuff

Alright. The Proper and not highly emotional reply to the idea of creating a new "shared" forum and retaining most functions on our original forums. First, Artz and Gerk, I want you to note three highly important things to keep in mind while reading this post. 1. I have a lot of respect for both of ...

Yeah. I considered that originally, but then I need to get Ari to call two things via cron. At the time, it seemed easiest to just get one thing called.

mods/VBNC/Daily.php
It also pulls code from stuff in the require folder, of course. Anything to do with inactivity tax or post counts is in postlib.php. And remember, this page is designed to be called by cron, though it can be loaded manually too.

Re: The Forum Sharing Stuff

Fair point. Originally there was the potential it could become a merger. Discussions have moved to just Forum Sharing. I will edit topic headings where I can to reflect this.

Re: The Merger Stuff

Ignore CJ, nobody has discussed shared law enforcement. If he wants to raise that, he should do it in the proper merger thread and not here. You are seeing one plus beyond shared forum - the possibility of between us getting a functioning foreign affairs department purely for week-to-week business, ...

Re: The Merger Stuff

Yep. Shared forum. Maybe also sharing diplomatic resources (eg I'll take a couple countries and give Jake Diplocorp reports for them, he'll give me a couple countries etc; but if there's a diplomatic incident whoever's incident it is deals with it). But essentially just shared forum.

The reality is, occasional errors of judgement aside Scott writes the best Malarboxes and is the only person consistently bothered to do it. But if you really don't like you you in fact copy his post, and post it yourself retracting the reference to yourself, and bang, Malarbor would display it. It'...

Re: QUARREL + Anunia

One of my (many) holiday projects is rejigging QUARREL. I'm going to release a base version, which is deliberately as simple as it can go (no range or position, just the core units and upgrades, no AA). And incorporate a proper help system. Theoretically, one could make ATTILA calculate battles for ...

So.. I know this is a weird concern... well.. more.. not sure what it is.... ..I was driving home from work last night and for some reason the merger idea popped into my head, and the thought of admin. For All of Shireroth history.. I've had admin. Even when I wasn't around. One of those Things abo...

Re: The Merger Stuff

Short answer: the suggestion was that me, Ari, you and Harvey would have admin. Slightly longer answer: that sort of practical stuff ("What will the forum look like?" "Who will be admin?") were discussed on the first page between Ari and I, and little objection has been raised since to the general f...

I can take you out of post stuff from Gralus, but I thought you might like to be able to donate it like Jacobus. And I still wish you'd sent all your money to NDoG when you'd decided to disavow it ;)

The joint foreign affairs I don't see as any sort of "Head of Foreign Affairs" type thing. I see it as a practical "Hey, you're going to those guys as a diplomat? Want to post stuff for us too? Thanks :)"

Thanks for this notification. To be honest, I've just about given on MITO. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I know you did too, but now we've all achieved top level trading I'm not as concerned about keeping it active. If there's more interest later I can revive it or help draw up a new trading system.

Re: [MiniTrade Proposal] Inactivity Tax

I search for all transactions that fit a certain set of criteria AND don't have the specific "inactivity tax" reason (which includes the user's username and so is personalised and unlikely to be put in by a user themself. And if they do, it's their own fault).

Strangely, I could see it if- The tax was smaller (say, 5-10%)- Announced LOAs were excluded- A provision was made to return all/some on a prodigals return. One could easily give an erb to a friend (or to the Jacobus Fund :) ) to keep an account active. Exactly. The provisions for activity are hard...

[MiniTrade Proposal] Inactivity Tax

Gralus has just about agreed to a post payout and inactivity tax . Ignore the post payout bit (Shireroth has never had a history of paying for posts and it doesn't fit the culture in the same way it does for Gralus) - is the inactivity tax bit worthwhile for Shireroth? Essentially, it's a more autom...
