Re: Babylon 5
Scott, When B5 first came out, I couldn't watch it. When it had a couple seasons under it's belt it was riveting. Because of that, I had to watch it twice. Once from season 5 to the end, then again from beginning to end. I think it's nearly impossible to make it through season one unless you're cons...

Re: CJ quote of the day
it's interesting that sexual preference and Christianity are somehow mutually exclusive, and yet judging people for their choices is one of the most basic tenets of that particular philosophy/faith.

Hesam> don't think we've won just yet. Now, he has to bring the argument up another level and demand some sort of structural change to shireroth so that when people argue, it can't be more than one on one. Followed by a 'poor-me' rant about how the three of us ganged up on Scott <Hesam> followed of...

this is hilarious, because by Scott's argument, the majority of people in Shireroth think Scott is wrong, therefore he is wrong.

You should feel honoured Malliki, at least he is still addressing you, even if it only involves the semantics of the argument rather than the issue itself.

you're so pathetic. You don't have a response or a decent defence and yet you're still arguing in favour of this guy because of your self-indulgence for Voltaire.

Scott, I never thought I'd hear you state that consensus equates to fact. Further, your source information isn't even about supporting homosexuality. It's data on the support for gay marriage which is a related, but not synonymous issue.

Re: CJ quote of the day
Seriously, how can you defend an intolerant person by saying their detractors are intolerant? CJMiller is suggesting that people who are gay should some how feel lesser for their lives. How is putting him in his place by calling him what he hates a bad thing?

Re: CJ quote of the day
you mean you 'choose' to be condescending. Saying "reserve the right" is just a ten dollar way of saying you're intentionally being a dick. But you're doing it in a respectful way, so its perfectly fine right?

Scott, being a condescending jackass doesn't make you any less a dick either. Before you say it, yes I'm aware that I am in fact a dick as well. But I also don't have the arrogance to anoint myself as the community-wide moral authority.

I suppose this wouldn't be the best time to offer the alternative to fighting brushfire wars in developing countries. The alternative where all of us loose our relatively high standard of living, safety, wealth, health and knowledge and become the sick-brother to a new order where the west hasn't th...

Intolerance that negatively effects the greater good can only be limited by coordinated and limited intolerance that effects the perpetrator as the side-effect. This is the foundation of state security in any society. never the less: http://shireroth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13352&p=152715#p152...

Re: CJ Miller case comment thread
I'd like to say that even as one of CJMiller's greatest detractors, I've noticed he's improved his attitude quite a bit. Where he first came in with blanket and bigoted statements that he could not defend but truly believed, he's at least learned that his opinions are highly unpopular and should onl...

1. I'm not laughing, that would be rude. Pantomime evil is a gentleman's sport. 2. I quite like Scott's alternate forum. My only suggestion would be that the black be changed to a scale of purple shades. I know it sounds stupid, but I think the colour would suit the header image. 3. Sigh, I hate thi...

I rather like Ardy's design. It's stylish, sophisticated, refined, and has a certain visual balance to it that is pleasing to the eye.
