Re: Day after elections
you don't hear me talking about the Chinese to get people of my back, do you? :D Yet :D Actually, depending on in what industry you work, it may already be an issue. Sure is in mine; one indication is the Obama import tariff on foreign tiers last year to stop the Chinese from flooding the US market...

Is that the actual origin for that one? I always assumed it was an odd translation of a quote from the anime.

Re: Day after elections
My standard answer to US bashing - you guys are just gunna LOVE IT when China starts calling the shots in a decade or two ;) I'm slowly starting to understand why the USA has the party system it does. Mostly, the average person can't be bothered to research the issues all that fully. It's not even p...

Re: I found myself compelled to add a new smiley
Okay. I can understand that. But it seems that the alternative of going with the flow is kind of the plot twist of the day. There's a definite undercurrent in the writing where it feels like he is making fun of the fans for believing or hoping for certain things. "Why would that happen? That would b...

I kinda gave up on Homestuck once it became apparent that the rest of the comic was going to be a troll arc. They're okay characters, but I really liked the thing that was going on before they became important, and I'm left a bit frustrated that they totally stole the show.

Yeah, I was too. Good times. But I think it's a dying center. Lots of people are just going off on their own to pursue their own interests without having to deal with any unwanted outside interference. Frustrating to admit, it's pretty tempting to me too at this point.

Yeah, everyone is attached to their projects. That's why Scott's idea was good, to have a common federation for those projections which would allow both the projects and for the general coming together of individuals on a greater level. I still don't believe this fundamentally. Put a bunch of peopl...

Re: One for those who want to validate their existence
I find the arrogance of intellectuals who look down upon popular culture to be both shallow and pedantic. *smokes a bubble pipe* Hm... yes indeed. This. Seriously, this. I didn't recognize either by picture, and in fact I couldn't have told you who Carl Sagan was by name alone, though now that I've...
