Re: On previous comments made by me
Well put, Malliki. Though the word Jihad is just a noun meaning 'struggle', it can be employed fairly in either an extremist or moderate Islamic context. What I mean is that not as many would be listening to them if we weren't making it really easy for them to paint the West as the big bads. It's a ...

Re: National Railway System
Incidentally Ashkenatza has started exploring the possibilities of a high-speed rail network across our Benacian territories- perhaps at some point in the future this could be expanded to link in with any similar Shirereithan systems currently in existence?

Re: On previous comments made by me
Actually, the Islamic terrorists perform strikes against us in response to the American military presence in the Middle East. Hmm. I don't quite buy the 'they wouldn't be killing us if we weren't so nasty to them' argument. Of course American and Israeli military presence in some parts of the Middl...

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
However, the Christians still hold onto many of the old Jewish books, despite not admitting they are Jewish. They picked and chose a few books they liked early on, but then forgot that it was cause Jesus was a Jew. He didn't mean to start something new, he was supposed to be the next/last(?) Jewish...

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
Interesting. But I would argue that in fact early religions in the Levant did great things for breaking social norms for the overall development of a fair society. To my knowledge many of the things Jesus advocated which we now consider to be morally laudable were viewed as wrong by the moral establ...

So does that mean that whenever there's a B0O0O/\/\ist service, they have to build a new temple which is then replaced after it gets blown up? ![Angelic :angel](./images/smilies/angel.gif)

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
Well, actually, no it isn't. But my point isn't exclusive to Islam. Essentially what I'm saying is that we need to understand that there are unpalatable parts of religious texts. We can't just ignore that by saying we're 'taking them out of context' or 'not interpreting them properly'. Anyone with a...

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
Well, ultimately neither you nor I can fully understand the theological and social nuances of this question as we're not Muslims and weren't bought up in Muslim communities. But personally I think it's a subtle mix of social and economic factors (which by their very nature define the creation of pol...

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
Well, once again definitions make it difficult, I see where you're coming from. At the end of the day Islam wouldn't outright reject those suicide bombers as Muslims, simply because they were bought up Muslim and although have denegrated much of what Islam stands for, they still worship Muhammad as ...

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
Well I evidently didn't get my meaning across in that sentence, for which I apologise. Essentially the majority of attacks on civilians carried out by people who happen to be Muslim will be due to radical Islamism and Jihadism. The majority of attacks on civilians carried out by people who happen to...

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
There's a big difference there, though. If a Russian soldier in Chechnya commits an atrocity and he happens to be an Orthodox Christian , that does not mean that the atrocity he committed was necessarily done in the name of his faith. There'd be a difference if the atrocity itself was in his opinion...

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
I think that might be something to do with the fact that there are and have been less large scale terrorist attacks by Christians in comparison to those committed by Muslims.

So will this work like an intermicronational tournament?
For example, if I won a game, would Ashkenatza then host the next Diplomacy match?
Anyway, sounds fun. Count me in.

Should Your Excellencies wish to plan international services across the border, please be in reciept of a copy of the Ashkenatzishe Ayznbanen Netzkart (Ashkenatzi National Railways Network Map).
Links with some Shirereithan cities from our railway network are shown- I hope this is of use somehow!

Re: Apparently Lars Vilks founded Ladonia
Your comparison of a collective responsibility between those of the same gender and those of the same faith strikes me as peculiar, to be honest. Of course Muslims shouldn't have to suffer a collective responsibility for the violent actions of a few radical members of their religion, but the fact re...

Of course I'm aware it was a small minority... I'm still laughing at them, though...The fact that it is a small minority of Muslims that react with being "violent and destructive" was kinda lost on you or what?

I'm pretty sure it's an excerpt from the Torah- you can tell because of the kind of script which is quite distinctive. I always meant to use that just as a temporary background before I found some nice watecolour of a Shtetl in the forest, but since people seem to like it we should probably just kee...

I really like that prototype design, Scott. Looks a lot more professional yet still retains some of the slightly quirky and eccentric spirit which makes Shireroth Shirereithan. To be honest the current skin is looking a little tired and, well, still looks more like a World of Warcraft fan forum rath...

Why not actually try and resolve this with a fair and credible Civil War? I'm not talking about the usual half-hearted affairs on these fora, I'm talking about a proper Civil War with diagrams, maps, the Anunia Convention and impartial observers from abroad. It could also be represented on the MCS a...

Re: New mergers for a new era
I don't follow... I mean, why merge? What have you got to gain from a merger which you don't have in Shireroth already? You've got an active, friendly community, a rich heritage and culture, and friends in the intermicronational community. I just don't see what a merger could possibly bring Shirerot...
