Tgaoth is the name of a terrorist organization which devistated and destroyed all Antican (both archived Dinarchal and Republican) forums on Febuary 12, 2006.

Tgaoth is a person or organization whose activities include hacking and destroying both the Dinarchy and Republic of Antica.

Espionage

Tgaoth first appeared in a post on Shireroth where he (masculine singular pronoun used despite no grounds for doing so) accused Nick "Foghorn" Leghorn of spying. His exact accusation was unclear, with some believing he accused Foghorn of spying on Shireroth for Antica and others believing that he accused Foghorn of spying on Antica for Shireroth. He claimed to have sent Shirerithian Delphi Augustus a private message with information useful to Shireroth, as well as to have talked to Speaker Olorix of the Republic of Antica on AIM about information useful to Antica.

At about the same time as the accusations, Delphi Augustus was discovered to have been spying on Antica and Lemuria in a completely unrelated incident. Because Shireroth was implicated in the events, this was confused with the Tgaoth affair. Although Foghorn admitted that Tgaoth's accusations about him were true, he accused Shireroth of using the information to take pressure off itself for Delphi's scandal. After some debate, Foghorn left Shireroth.

Terrorism

About a week after his first revelation, Tgaoth posted again in Shireroth, saying that he had determined that neither Antica deserved to live and that he had "cleansed" the world of them. Investigation revealed that part of the database of both the Republic and the unused Dinarchy of Antica had been deleted, removing all content to posts while keeping their structure intact. The Republic, in a state of emergency, moved to a temporary forum in Natopia, but Foghorn was able to restore the Republic's forum from an old backup after about forty-eight hours. The Dinarchy was already based in Shireroth and suffered no immediate crisis from their forum loss.

Identity and Motivation

The identity of Tgaoth remains uncertain. Tgaoth himself has claimed to be an organization consisting of a number of people. In response to rumors that it was GC-based, Tgaoth said "we are from several different nations, yes including the GC, but others as well." Some outsiders do not believe Tgaoth's claims to be a large organization, preferring to pin responsibility on one or two people. The most popular suspects are Delphi Augustus, who is technologically skilled and has a known dislike for Antica, and Matthew Basil, who prior to the attack spent a lot of time hinting he was going to effect massive changes to the world order through sinister means. The evidence against both of these people is only circumstantial at best.

Tgaoth himself claims an honorable motivation for his deeds, saying he informed Shireroth and Antica of espionage attempts in order to prevent their being betrayed, and destroyed the Anticas because the micronational world would be better off without them.
