malarbor Malarbor Says: Congratulations to CJ Miller who finally landed himself a job as Arbiter and to Jonas who got himself elected as Praetor. With these two positions filled, we are now able to get charter amendments taken care of and move Shireroth forward into a new future.

The Future of Shireroth convention is still going on. Some 'Interesting' ideas have been put forth, which could lead to a broader form of government, and perhaps even an opening of the Landsraad to all. Will this work in Shireroth's favor? Only I can know.. and I'm not telling! Gods don't have to reveal secrets to you puny mortals.

In other random news: The Kaiser is doing a substantial forum tune up. Make sure to let him know if his fallible mortal hands made a mistake. Also, Jake wants to know 'What Shireroth means to you', so go forth and put your 2 erb in, it should prove interesting, and maybe shed some light on the psychological needs of our community.

And it would appear ICEBREAKER has the power to tap into people's dreams. Let us only hope he uses this power for great good, and not nefarious evil. Though good money is on the later. Malarbor approves!

Jake, the Minister of the Exterior, is looking for an ambassador to help with our dealings with nations abroad. If you have any interest, please drop him a line. We have many out there who could be our friends, won't you help them to get to know who we are?

A new company was created and given a forum the other day. Though it's not clear, we think they have something to do with documents, AND services. So go request something from them.

And finally, go buy a copy of POLIKO it's a rather good read. Though there should be at least one article dedicated to the glory of me. MALARBOR DEMANDS IT!

To be fair, given the changing of the flag and the apparent moving of the capital city, I'm not so sure how confident I feel about contributing anything long-term to the country either, especially if it would take endless hours of my personal time to prepare.

You know what? Fuck you too! You evidently have no idea how long it took to prepare a 3000x3000 map of the capital city of a micronation I actually know something about- when you add that time to the fact that this is a job for a foreign micronation, this will take forever. And as Harvey rightly said, when the flag and capital can be changed so quickly by Executive Order, I think my concerns are justified. So it's not about ego stroking, it's about knowing whether making a map for you guys will be worth the effort.

But you know it will. None of your work has been reversed in the past, so I can't realoly understand what you are worried about.

A flag and temporarily moving the capital doesn't mean that your maps will be changed. That doesn't make much sense (I'm sorry if this sounds somewhat aggressive): a map of the quality like your other maps will probably never get changed. And if so, that would mean the uprising of the whole nation.

So what if I was already halfway through a map of Shirekeep, having included buildings focused around Shirekeep being the capital city of Shireroth, and the capital was then changed? I'm not saying that's the case, but if you were in my shoes, I'm sure you'd be pretty peeved too.

The capital is Shirekeep and will always be Shirekeep. The Kaiser has merely relocated for a while to get to know the country-side of Elwynn.

Max: The capital change is a silly RP "Oh no, robots invading, evacuate the Kaiser" sort of thing that's going to get changed back in a few days, or earlier if we all threaten to rebel and overthrow the Kaiser, which is the main way things get done around here.

Look. I dunno what to tell you. We're the country that kept a crappy flag for ten years just because it was old, and might well tear ourselves apart before we manage to replace it. We're the home of Aracigrad, the one city on the MCS Map that's never been changed since version 1.0.0. The flags of Yardistan, Brookshire, and Kildare are all about 7 years old, and I still have an old map of Tymaria City that actually dates from the Tymarian Age.

Every so often, when something is abominably bad, we might change it: hence the flag. I don't think your Shirekeep map is going to be abominably bad. I think it's going to be excellent, and the sort of thing that none of us can match without more native talent than we have to offer and six months of our own that none of us have. Why you're afraid that the most conservative micronation on the Internet is going to replace something that's going to be awesome is beyond me. It's why we keep on calling you here and begging you to do this, so far unsuccessfully, for the past three months.

Shireroth's going to go on forever; with or without any of us, Erik will make sure of that. That means you have a chance to design a true Eternal City, the capital of the largest and oldest micronation on the planet, something that will be remembered long after you leave the hobby, something that will earn you a bunch of Spangle's nifty FNORDs and something that will, if it matters, make a bunch of us really happy. You could also get the title of Lord Mayor of Shirekeep, which is nothing to scoff at, plus all you can drink at the next convention you manage to make. If you want to do it, we would really appreciate it.

But so far, you keep taking unrelated stuff that happens in Shireroth - Ric becoming Duke of Brookshire, this Al'Magroth thing, the flag change - and becoming paranoid we're going to scrap your map. I can tell you now that as long as I have any power here, the map won't be scrapped. So please, for our sake, either commit to this and stick to it, or commit to not doing it so one of us can get started on doing a vastly inferior job.
