Nothing seems to be booming around here. Ah, what has happened around here, anyway?

New Feudalism and a lack of people who wished to stay Yardistani, basically.

Every great nation has its heyday.

Ah, to think Yardistan was once Rome, now merely the Vatican.

Oh, yeah, and New Feudalism sucks. But we all knew my thoughts on that already.

What happened? You expanded too quickly, had a boom of activity, and are now watching as the proportional sine curve of micronational activity kicks you squarely in the nuts.

And yes, Feudalism sucks. That, plus Delphi wasn't convicted, plus there's no impetus for activity besides pure culture.

*Is less enthusiastic about the New Feudalism than he once was* I find myself missing the simple, (mostly) contiguous territorial divisions, somehow.

I don't really...

But think of it! Brookshire had that wonderful blocky, chunky shape... and Yardistan was a chain of islands stretching off into the distance... and Kildare was nestled between the sea and that river (I forget the name), and Hyperborea just sat up in the north looking down smugly on everyone else...

...well, I guess Hyperborea is still doing that, technically. But you know what I mean.

Things were once much greater here. The demise of the nation lies in the hands of those who called for greater democracy and greater power to the people. Such are the failings of other nations that fell many a moon ago. Once in our long history, Shireroth learned from the mistakes of others--that on a scale so small, power should be kept to but a few, well-respected and intelligent leaders who had in their hearts direction and meaning. Alack, such spirit has been eroded and now our hallowed nation lies in ruin, a mere shambles in comparison to the glory it once had.

Er, not to burst your ideological bubble or anything, but maybe us having four Kaisers in a row who didn't do anything, plus you and Erik and Joe and Jadie and Fax all leave also had something to do with it?

I've been gone more than a year........

No, shush, you're interrupting my subtle attempt at trying to move people to some sort of pointless action....

not that anybody would move....

Tell Erik to come back and be Kaiser, and then come back yourself, and THEN we'll be ready for some REAL pointless action.

As I said before, when those who wrote Shireroth's fictional history left, the historical basis for the country could not be passed on intact to the new citizens. We are left with little but reactive postings because few remember Shireroth's past. You, who established and, in fact, WERE Yardistan, have left. Others who also made great contributions also left micronations. When they return to check on their creation later, they are surprised at the state of the nation they made. Because of a combination of the EZBoard hack and the missing citizens, it is no wonder we don't know from whence we have sprung. Your return could go a long way toward rectifying this state of affairs.

I'm not surprised at all. Rather, I'm more curious as to what happened to the forum.

Some of us have had to move on to other things in our lives. I have to have my priorities in order, and sadly Shireroth cannot be at the front of that order. It is a shame that those we left in our stead cannot keep our history alive. Yes, I may once have been Yardistan all on my own--many years ago--but surely somebody can come to replace me.

People come, go, die, and fade away...yet so it seems that there are are always people about....
