Nifty technology: Internet Explorer 7

Post by Nick Foghorn Leghorn »

I was sceptical at first, but it seems like Microsoft has finally gotten a browser at least partially right. The browser, designed to work with the 64-bit Vista but toned down for good 'ol 32-bit XP, is decidedly better than its predecessor, but is still pwned by Mozilla. Even so, check it out.

That's friggen hilarious - it's like them saying "Hey, look! Internet Explorer is almost like Firefox now! Love us! Please?"

I need to see if they finally made PNGs work... PLEASE GOD.

The printing options look kinda neat. Hm.

Internet Explorer sucks ass and will always suck ass. I wouldn't mind it so much if the bastards at Microsoft would get their asses in gear and render websites with up-to-date standards... But no... they're just dumb.

Delphi, after using the beta for a few - i have to say, it actually works. Fully supported PNG transparency, best I can tell.

The little button that converts addresses and whatnots to links is BAD-ASS.

But it still doesn't support some critical CSS in the same way Firefox does. I'm not sure at the moment what it was that concerned me, but there were a few particulars that bugged me. Oh, and it completely doesn't support application/xhtml+xml content type.

IE is the most used browser in the world. As such, by not supporting the standards, it creates the "standards." It's the Microsoft way of doing things.

Interestingly, Konqueror for KDE may be one of the best browsers available except for the fact that it incorrectly renders fonts and that drives me absolutely fucking crazt. It's quite fast, though. And QT makes me much happier than GTK.

Ah, if only they would port Firefox to QT like they are with OpenOffice. That would be a wondrous day!
