Banner

Scott was nice enough to make us this banner:

However, for the sake of us having made by one of our own, and actually doing something, I think we should make a new one! Now, I don't want to do this, mostly because it'd come out crappy and I have a ton of better ways to use my time.

Anyone who wants to give it a go, if it's any good, we'll put it on up.

Well, it seems as if the other duchys have a sort of unique banner, next to which they display a small flag....why can't we do the same? WHY, DELPHI? WHY?!?!?!?! WHY MUST WE ALWAYS BE THE BLACK SHEEP??? :cry :D

Because Delphi would rather make a website than an image, of course! That's why I leave the task to you fellows!

Simply MARVELOUS! Someone got around to making the banner changes I suggested! I feel powerful and influential, although this was probably done simply to appease me and shut up my squawking...

*sighs* Yes, wonderful, now we have a disproportionate flag next to our banner... :fish (the Antican flag has a 2:1 ratio)

Really, Delphi, it doesn't look bad at all, unless someone has changed it since I last saw it (5 minutes ago.) It is porportianate to the banner and no bigger than the other flags. Looks fine.

BY THE WAY! Answer the damn private message I sent you! Honestly, no cooperation...no cooperation at all...j/k.

There! You have your crazy odd-proportion flag now. You will rue the day you crossed me, Augustus! RUE!

Just being correct and all... The flag has remained (almost) unchanged for 2 and a half years.

Thanks Greg, and wonderful spot for a Celebrity Jeopardy reference... :D (then again, when isn't?)

RUUUUE.

(I know. I was just keeping it in proportion to the other flags. May as well be accurate, though... so it's all good.)

Go ahead, Delphi! What are you waiting for? Well? START RUING!

I'm far more ruing the day I became MiniInfo... :fish

I've spent all night working on the Shireroth website and I'm starting to get a headache... :cry

Do you know what I do when I get a headache? I TAKE AN ASPIRIN AND GET THE F*** BACK TO WORK! Just joking. You're doing a really great job, I presume.

2 to 1? Oh no! Violation of the golden ratio! Now everyone's going to be aesthetically displeased!

I already am. :)

We're crazy. All of us... and it's getting worse.

Well, if you don't want to talk to Greg and Scott, theres Delphi, in that direction. Of course, he's mad too...but you can't help going about mad people here. Most everyone's mad in Shireroth. As a matter of fact, you may have noticed...I'm not all there myself...aha..ahahaha.HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ATTACK OF THE FLYING MONKEYS!

And yes, Scott, it does defy the golden ratio! Behold now as the most sacred precepts of geometry are overturned, the algebraic sacred cows are slaughtered without ceremony, and the whole devilish temple of mathematics crumbles to the ground in a huge crucible of fire and righteous destruction, as the blood of so many sacrificial victims runs down its tumbling steps, before their souls are reborn and a hole is rent in the fabric of time and space, and all the world is cut down, and even the gods themselves! And the acolytes of arithmetic shall weep to know that all they have served, all they have lived, is indeed a hollow falsehood, as it relies upon the logic of man as it existed at the moment before, but with this single moment, all that was the logic of man is cast down, and the progress out of the reptilian brain is at hand, and humans cease to be, but become as pure energy! All the workings of that lower brain are scorned, and are as if they had never been.

[Bows] I suppose I am, in Your Excellency's eyes, a heathen. Here I stand, I can do no other.

You know, there's only so much that can be said about a banner...especially after it's fixed.

Posted: Thu Jan 12, 2006 8:20 pm
by Delphi
I semi-fixed it. I made that new one, with the flag in proportion and a new font. It took me forever to pick that font and I'm still not so sure about it...

I also came up with this one, which is more of a throwback to the old site and forum colors:

I like the second one better...but maybe with a lighter colored font? Maybe like yellow or bright green or white...I dont know - I'm not even Antican!! Ugh my desire to impose my opinion on all cannot be satiated!! :demon

Well the point of the second one was to mimick the colors of the old Antican website and fora, so changing the colors would kinda defeat the purpose. Not that I couldn't (with much difficulty) make up another one with different colors.

I really liked the Lucida Blackletter ( I think that's what the first one is called) but I would prefer it in more of a gold, like the second banner.

Edit: What the [blank] was I thinking? Gold with green and blue? Have I forgotten everything? One would think I had never taken an art class. But, really, I like them both. I always thought something like L.Blackletter or Old English font kind of displayed the spirit of Antica.

I thought you meant more something like this, which I just whipped up in the meantime:
