I'm allowing self-nominations. I meant if anyone objects to ending nominations on the 20th, we can extend it. If the Kaiseress is not satisfied with the Steward we have chosen for her (ie a rebel) she may simply appoint a new one

There are only so many ways you can interpret a statement like
Erik-"....I am hereby in rebellion against the Kaiseress, I no longer recognize her right to rule over Shireroth"

I stand by those statements...

The Steward rules if the Kaiser cannot.

Erik has declared that he no longer recognizes the Kaiseress's right to rule. Therefore, if he is elected Steward, he will see himself as being elected as ruler in place of a Kaiser that he does not recognize as such.

If the Landsraad elects Erik at this time, they are, in effect, attempting to depose Her Niftyness.

Of course Erik could make peace with the Kaiseress, end his rebellion, be reconciled with her, swear allegiance and make public his acceptance of her rule.

Whereas the Khan has shown nothing but loyalty.

Indeed I am concerned to note that there has been no reaffirmation of loyalty by the Count of Monty Crisco following the ceasefire imposed in 3607 ASC.

You may of course elect any candidate you want to. I will, however, not accept the election of a person that does not recognize my right to rule, or who is in rebellion against me. That should be pretty obvious.

Wow.... I started my rebellion in seriousness... continued it in jest.... and now I'm really thinking I should go back to rebelling in all seriousness.
