Petition Regarding Ynnraile

Niftiness,

His Grace the Duke of Goldshire, as was, did generously gift the barony of Ynnraile to the Duchy of Elwynn amongst other actions, and while certain of these may have been negated by Imperial Law it is only that specific clause regarding the dissolution of the duchy which cannot be implemented, the remainder, the abdication, the appointment of Harvey Steffke as Warden of Khorze & Parvatvana and the ceding of Ynnraile to Elwynn were entirely legal, being compliant with the Codex Aureus, and the sincerely held wish of Leo Fenrir who is a well regarded citizen.

I therefore petition your Majesty to uphold the ceding of Ynnraile from Goldshire to Elwynn.

Oh and in completely unrelated news - I would be prepared to work on the Zygus Qamil gratis and cover personally any additional erb-cost overruns.

Mi'lord Kaiser,

I do not know what Leo was thinking when he wrote that decree, but he was clearly not acting within his duties of protecting the best interests of Goldshire. This so-called gift was not generous but spiteful towards the people he swore to protect and benefiting only his previous residence, which he officially severed his loyalty to when he became a baron in Goldshire.

I urge your majesty to not attempt to enforce this decree and leave sorting out this unexpected mess to the people of your duchies, whom I assure you will have maters handled quite properly in short order.

Hhmm. So, if I chose the Elwynn-side, I get free help with the construction of the Zygus Qamil...
But if I don't chose the Goldshire-side, they will probably rebel and nag about this matter till I want to abdicate (NEVER! :angry ).

Hhmmmm.... let me think.

The problem with this is that if you give Ynnraile to Elwynn, we might as well just disband Goldshire as a duchy since it will be too small, in my opinion, to even be a duchy.

Straylight was small. And I'm sure that it will return in the future. So no, that's something I don't want to believe. :demon

Straylight was a duchy mainly because Ari deserved being a duke.

What about one, little county to Elwynn? Then everyone has what he / she wants. :love

Greed is a deadly sin, people. A deadly sin.

Here's my opinion. This can't be solved without solving the wider problem: that being that Goldshire currently only really has two active citizens (I'm not counting Vasroe as active till he does more). If they can solve that, they deserve to keep Ynnraile by force of tradition, divine law, and not obsessing over what one guy said in a momentary lapse of reason. If they can't, other arrangements have to be made.

I suggest the Kaiser call Harvey and Aryez to Shirekeep and ask them to present their plan for making Goldshire more active and worthy of continued existence. If they can present one, we give them a shot and see if it works. If not, they can decide what else they want to do with it.

Possibilities would include giving it back to Brookshire, splitting it between Brookshire and Elwynn, or splitting off a bit of Elwynn and giving it + two Elwynnese citizens to Goldshire.

In light of a situation that is rapidly going from bad to worse seemingly without end for Goldshire, I would like to support the complete disillusion of the duchy. Ynnraile can indeed be given to Elywnn and the remaining other two baronies back to Brookshire. Aryez can decide for himself where he wants to end up but I would like to change my residence to Shirekeep.

Unfortunately, you have capitulated Harvey.
I would like to continue saying no, but if you, half the population, and far more influential than me isn't going to support Goldshire, then Goldshire is not going to live.

I would like to propose the following, however. Some sort of solution similar to what was employed in Hurmu. Otherwise, a sub-duchy within a Duchy. I would prefer for the my Barony to join Elwynn; also in light of things, it would make sense to disband Parvatvana and reabsorb its parts into Ynnraile or Khorze.

I would like to add on a related note that despite my gunning for Ynnraile since day one I have no desire to see it become part of the wintry homogeneous mass that is Elwynn. As Aryeztur said, it would be more beneficial for Ynnraile to maintain all of its current tradition and culture, much like the Hurmu->Shireroth situation.

I have thought about this matter, slept a bit and have the following answer: no land moves will be done. Goldshire stays a Duchy and doesn't loose the barony (the Goldshirians need to talk about land exchanges themselves). This means that I give Goldshire a chance.

But, if the Goldshirians accept annexation or partition, there will be no objection from my side.

Harvey should accept the position as Duke and lets see where Goldshire goes from there. Otherwise, I'd be open to Goldshire being annexed by Elwynn.

I mean, I'd accept the position too, but Goldshire needs at least 2 people to work. So if even one of is isn't on board then its time for plan B.

Not quite sure why mi'lord had the infinite wisdom of choosing the position that has been abandoned. In any event, I am not interested in being Duke nor remaining in Goldshire. The rest of you can sort out this mess however you like.

If you don't remain in Goldshire, the Duchy will have just one citizen. And even while respecting its culture, I don't consider it worth of being a separated Duchy.

This means that I will have to speak with the Dukes of Elwynn, Goldshire (that would be Aryeztur) and Brookshire about the partitioning of the land...

Yeah, as I said, if Harvey isn't on board, then there's no way Goldshire can be an independent Duchy. And I don't really want to be Duke either, which is why I gave it to Leo a week ago.

So we need to being talking about those alternative plans.

If Goldshire is dissolved, I suggest you remerge Parvatvana into wherever it was before, and then split the baronies between Brookshire and Elwynn (i.e. Ynnraile to Elwynn and Khorze to Brookshire).

Khorze doesn't want to be part of Brookshire.

Brookshire itself is failing. We have only two citizens, too. Suggestions?

Well, I wouldn't dare to suggest that both Brookshire and Goldshire join Elwynn.

I think that would be the making of something of a pre-revolutionary environment.

I'm curious why Aryeztur doesn't want to join Brookshire (I know why Harvey doesn't). It'd be easier for everyone.

With all the rebellions around, isn't that Shireroth's permanent state already?

If we want Shireroth to survive, an Elwynnese hegemony is hardly what we need. Maybe someone should move to Brookshire. What about Thomas Gaudin? Isn't he floating around?

Reactionary, not revolutionary.
