Small Commonwealth Day

I think we should institute a Small Commonwealth Day, commemorating the foundation of the Small Commonwealth.

Three possible days:
  • Shirithian Commonwealth of Nations, Oct 6 2008
  • Shireroth's ascension to the Small Commonwealth, Nov 30 2008
  • New Treaty of General Membership, Dec 25 2008

Christmas Day, easily remembered :)

As someone with their birthday on December 23rd (SUBTLE HINT - GET YOUR GIFTS READY EARLY AND SAVE!), I can assure you that trying to have another celebration in the Christmas holiday season is not much fun. If we put it on Christmas, we might get some people to show up and say "yay!" but having people with the time and energy to plan anything more than that seems unlikely.

Good point.

When did the Commonwealth come to existence? I mean, when was there more than one nation in it?

29 Dec 2008 15:12 I put the general membership treaty in the Final Treaty Repository thread.

http://shireroth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=196&t=9822

Puts it on December 23rd. Also when I wrote the draft everyone eventually signed.

Ari's post which greatly influenced how things progressed. Gave us our name.

October 9 seems to be when we started all the major discussions that led to things. The first copy of the General Membership Treaty was put forth on that day.

I would put the date on October 9th. Everything truly got started on that day.

Sounds delicious. I'm game.

I'll get some kind of Waltz organised in Ashkenatza for the delegates for dessert.

9 October seems best, imo. Would put the day far enough away from any other major holidays. Too close to Christmas, etc might mean not many folks are overly active when the day comes around.

We couldn't use the date of the first day of the SC summit? That way, we don't have to wait 10 months to celebrate the day.

I think we will celebrate on the first day of the Convention, at least that was my suggestion, and it hasn't started yet.
