New symbol

Post by Erik Mortis »

We need a new symbol for the commonwealth. Right now the symbol is based on the Shireroth flag, which conveys the wrong message. This is not a Shireroth dominated organization, or an attempt by Shireroth to do so... thus we need a new symbol.

Pinch the existing one for the University then? It´s a relatively nifty symbol ....
Or if not the university, the Archives, which also need a symbol. Actually, probably better archives because the symbol Kathbad proposed for the uni is fairly good ...

However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

I really actually like the current one. Big tree... trees is family, life, ecosystem... and wasn't it made really quickly and easily using an image editor? I dunno, invert the colours if you want

but I just love the image.

I liked the symbol... and the colour... but if we changing it: put some orange in it. :thumbsup

Maybe something completely not derived from the Shireroth flag? I would kinda like to remove all the confusion about what the small commonwealth is.

Sounds like a terrible idea but then again standing up for oneself and refusing to give in only affords one the honour of a quick death and "quick death" is not a concept commonly associated with Shireroth afaik. :jadie

Maybe not bland and generic. But it's not an extension of Shireroth policy or military goals. And we need people to know that.

Here's a bizarre, abstract bland and generic symbol.

It's a tree. You know the image of a great tree sheltering many under its branches? Except, because we're the Small Commonwealth, it's a small tree. And it has fruit on it. All different kinds of fruit. To represent that we have all different kinds of members but we still work together.

Feel free to say its horrible, it took 5 minutes in paint, but hey, its something ...

Well.. I guess it is a start. but I wish people would take this more seriously. If we are to get the SC to grow and actually serve a purpose we need to show people it's for real and not just some Shireroth ploy...

I love it! :love I mean... it's terrible, but if someone made that rounded and all flashy-looking, I believe the idea to be perfectly sound. Well done Andreas.

Maybe a tree as a symbol would make sense, yes.

Thanks. I was definitely more sound on the idea part rather than the look part.

Leo?

So I didn't realize it was supposed to be a symbol and made a flag. :knife
It wont be hard to incorporate it into a circle symbol if you like the the logo/tree.

EDIT: Finished it.

Maybe remove the initials, or find a different font. But we are close.

Couldn't there be a smoking skull and at least one dagger included in it?

I'm not quite sure what you want along the lines of a different font. More fluid? More Squiggly?
Also are the initials the only thing that I should address? Color scheme? Scale?

And no skulls.

Get it into place then. We can always change it again later if it doesn't work.
