It's that time again
Hello Shirithians!
As you may know, we've recently written a new constitution in Antica. The Republic is no more, having been replaced by the Commonwealth (a huge shift, I know; I hope the shock isn't too much to bear.) When I say "recently", I mean about three months ago.
Anyway, we're into our second Speakership, and we've actually elected Aryez and Ben (Oric--do you know Oric?) as dual-Speakers (this required a constitutional amendment.) I realize that I've been a little lax in my duties as temporary foreign minister, and I'm sure you've all missed me terribly.
So, diplomatic relations need to re-established. Do you think a standard treaty-in-a-can would suffice for the moment? I'm reluctant to offer anything more binding, because the situation in Antica is very tenuous right now. We've begun work on yet another constitution, and have yet to establish formal executive departments.
I do feel it's important for Shireroth and Antica to maintain close diplomatic relations. We've had a long and colorful history together, and there's no sense in letting that lapse.

For reference, here's their forum. Anticans are awesome people in general, just a little bit more political than us Shirithians and historically a little bit more unlucky with attracting drama llamas. A lot of our common history is chronicled in the MicroWiki articles about Antica.

Bwaha...drama llamas...
Indeed! We are rather cool people, in general.

Ugh, it looks like someone stopped updating the Republic of Antica article on the Microwiki somewhere around... Summer 2006. Pitiful. Ah well. The AntiWiki is a much much better source of information on Antica.

Yes, we're quite proud of our Wiki. Chris and I are, by the way, co-Foreign Ministers, so his word is as good as mine.

Re: It's that time again
...good? I was gonna call it the Treaty of Zombie-Antica, but I didn't know how well that would have gone...TREATY OF ANTICA (REBORN)
WHEREAS the two countries of the IMPERIAL REPUBLIC OF SHIREROTH and the COMMONWEALTH OF ANTICA, having come into contact with one another and and finding their interests to be coincident, do desire to formalize and secure their cordial feelings, they do agree:
FIRST, that each recognize the other as a sovereign and independent country, possessed of all the rights entailed thereby
SECOND, that both countries commit to resolve all mutual disputes peacefully, using a neutral third party agreed to by both should this prove impossible by normal channels
THIRD, that both countries shall remain open and accessible to tourists and other visitors from one another, barring national emergencies or other such security issues
FOURTH, that both recognize one another as the rightful owner of all territory, real and imaginary, that they claim.
FIFTH, that proper channels of communication shall be opened between them, so as to facilitate dialogue and future cooperation.
SIXTH, Neither party shall engage in, nor actively sponsor, whether directly or indirectly, any act of aggression against the other except for when both parties have agreed by mutual consent that it is the appropriate thing to do.

How about calling it the 'Treaty of Antica Revenant'?

Oh, you know, whenever you get tired.
I like the treaty a great deal, but if we ever happened to engage in a recwar, not being able to attack one another's territory would be frustrating.

Well, I'm sure if it was a friendly recwar, you could arrange to have that clause temporarily discounted.Braden Indianensis wrote:Oh, you know, whenever you get tired.

If it's not a friendly recwar, then they shouldn't invade us. If they really want to, they'll ignore the treaty anyway ...

And this is why Micronationalism is not like the Real World.
Never in a real treaty will there be a clause saying that two nations agree not to support or engage in acts of aggression against one another EXCEPT when they both agree that it's the right course of action.

Micronationalism is unlike the real world in so many ways that it really isn't appropriate to start counting them.

Re: It's that time again
Yes, I know. My thoughts were turned more to those in Micronationalism who delude themselves into thinking that they are actually running a real state with real territory, and take things way way too seriously, a fault I am glad that Shireroth has never fallen under.
