Nobles titles and such
So I was thinking on my break at work about how we needed to figure out how to refer to Andreas and his new title. Was he Margrave of somewhere?
So:This is the system I came up with. Ideas?
If the title is given to an individual they get to call themselves 'A <Title>'
If the title has lands granted with it they may called themselves '<Title> of <lands>'
If the title was granted to a house, who ever gets the title can call themselves '<Title> of House <House>'.
If the title goes to a house and had lands, use whichever of the two makes the most sense at the time, or both.
If the title is given with no lands, but they have lands personally, they can be '<Title> in <lands>'
So, Andreas is Andreas, Margrave in Melangia. But not Of. Since the title isn't linked to the land.
If I was granted a count title I would be Count IN Monty Crisco (though I'd proly ask to have them linked)
Head of House Kalir is Duke of House Kalir.
Ryan is Baron of House Annexis and Yardistan (Yardistan is linked to the title).
Does that cover most situations?

Yes. That seems a sensible way to do it.
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

It's not worth it if it's not complicated.

It seems a reasonable way of going about it. Yay also for the use of "in"! Now we just need an excuse for someone to use both (for example, the princes of Liechtenstein are sometimes referred to as being "of and in Liechtenstein").
