Re: We have new neighbors
They've actually been there since February (wouldn't have noticed myself except I happened to fortuitously check a version of the claimsmap I'd previously downloaded, and was surprised to find the claim was already there).

(oh, yeah, and one other thing: I still think the wording is, well... bad. In the us versus them sense. A better amendment than Jonas's would be to just drop the "With this in mind the Landsraad feels that certain behaviors are unacceptable by those that may visit here, and even attempt to call Shir...

Re: Re: Statement of Principle
So, essentially, the statement is a middle ground between "everyone actually just decides to be happy and to get along" and clear, well-defined law? Well... suits me, I guess. I *am* a bit concerned that just because it's not meant to be law doesn't mean that it will be read and analysed as annoying...

Re: Re: Statement of Principle
The Imperial Code of Law says you are. If that has changed I guess the law should be changed . Granted, the law also says that the board is still hosted at shireroth.kuroshiro.net (though at least it took into account that the hosting location might change).Scott of Hyperborea wrote:PS: I am not a board administrator.

Re: Statement of Principle
Actually, hell, since I'm procrastinating on stuff anyway, I might as well go ahead and type it out... (fun fact: Doing something like this without a proper penal law to base it on is... kinda weird. No, we don't actually want a penal law.) A new section, "Trolling", shall be added to chapter XII (l...

Re: Statement of Principle
Well, Scott is... right, actually. And, given that and what Erik said... well, my biggest remaining problem with the statement is that it's written in flowery and vague language which, as you'll note, tends to allow for interpretations that are far less good than what you intended. I read both "thos...

Re: Statement of Principle
1. It's not a law. There is no required actions. There is no clear orders to do anything. It's worded vaguely and as a "statement", and a suggestion. It even says that things should be documented, and temporary, and that there can be extenuating circumstances. There's no "not really a law" about it...

Quite intentional, sir (I'm still not going to reimmigrate though). I'm gonna head into the sauna and see if I have useful new stuff to add to this thread when I return.Scott of Hyperborea wrote:That is a whole lot of uses of the pronouns "us" and "we" to refer to Shirerithians in that post.

Re: Statement of Principle
Could you people *please* stop pretending that Shireroth has been sucky lately because of a conflict between the fine upstanding well-behaving "us" and the trollish disloyal "them"? Because, you know, it's *really* getting old that everyone's running around and ranting about trolling being the cance...

I'll add Machineia to the pot. Not because the word "machine" needs to be there in full, but because I like words that end in -eia.

My new flatmate worries me
Here are the shoes he brought in: http://ari-rahikkala.net/pics/manyshoes.jpg
He was outside at the time (presumably wearing shoes). That means... he brought 39 shoes. That's almost as many as four tens. And that... smacks me as a bit strange.

Much as I am annoyed at him for messing up my assing attempt, Andreas has a(n interesting) point. If you're interested enough in a nation to regularly post well-researched news updates about it, chances are you're a citizen anyway.

Well, it's a bit of a philosophical thing, I guess. Is the value of micronational journalism in that someone simply takes the time to write anything, or in that it might actually communicate something that has something to do with reality?

Agreed. I mean, a Cedrist might well think of the Machine God as just another divinity in a big pantheon. But I don't think Machinarians would give a shit.

Oh, yes, definitely. You need a Cedrist to save the Machine God worshippers. Just like you need a European to save the Native Americans. Or a human to save the Na'vi. Or... you get the point. Let's not waste the "oppressed people rising up" narrative before we've even really established it, OK?

Meshed Lands
The Meshed Lands It is the nature of the world that everything is itself. This may seem a truism, but it does not hold in the Meshed Lands. The Meshed Lands connect everything together, in the Meshed Lands things *blur*. Notably the line between death and life. There is life, of a sort, found in de...

Nelaga's part of my regular rounds. Points of interest include the fact that Fides is doing a fairly decent amount of 3d modelling work for them, and that they have a merit system... which is practically rather similar to the bounty system in that its function largely consists of Andreas going and l...

Oh, I have something even better than an idea for a name for the type of government. See, being that I intend to have nothing to do with any sort of a formalised local decisionmaking here, I'm not in any hurry to get any government established. Actually, I don't think there needs to be any connectio...
